The Eye Test

Are home eye tests as thorough as tests in a practice?

Yes. Home eye tests are clinically equivalent to those carried out in an optician’s practice. The optometrist brings professional portable equipment to perform a full examination.

What happens during a home eye test?

The optometrist will:

Check your vision& Examine the health of your eyes

Discuss any symptoms or concerns, Explain the results clearly

Provide a prescription if needed and if any referral needs to be done

The test usually takes around 45 minutes.

What equipment do you bring?

We bring all the necessary professional equipment to carry out a full eye examination safely and comfortably in your home or care setting.

Can you test for eye conditions?

Yes. Home eye tests can detect and monitor conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye changes. If needed, we can refer you to hospital eye services or your GP.

Can family members or carers be present?

Absolutely. Family members, carers, or care staff are welcome to be present during the eye test and can help with communication or decision-making if needed.

Do you visit care homes and nursing homes?

Yes. We regularly visit residential care homes, nursing homes, and supported living environments. We can see individual residents or organise group visits.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Appointment availability varies by area, but we aim to offer visits as soon as possible. We can advise on current waiting times when you contact us.

What should I prepare before the visit?

If possible, please have:

Are your optometrists qualified?

Yes. All our optometrists are fully qualified, experienced, and registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).

What happens after the eye test?

Payment is usually taken once the glasses have been ordered. Costs will always be explained in advance.

How long do glasses take to be delivered?

Glasses are usually delivered within ~3 weeks, depending on the lenses required.

What is your returns or remake policy?

If there is a prescription or manufacturing issue, we will arrange a remake where appropriate at no extra cost.

If glasses are refunded through 14day return policy
